A story behind a photo....

It was a rather difficult photo to get (the one in my previous post) and the cost to me was dear, both in time and effort. In a rather difficult period of my life, yes it started way, way back but I didn't know it yet, I was "haunting" Acropolis for a photo. Many visits down-town, countless hours waiting and many many photos later I was able to capture this photo. I am proud of that photo! Yes, I am...

I am pretty sure you all know about the place, some of you visited it, took many photos of it, and felt it's magic. Maybe, you even think of coming back...

I was raised around this place, was walking on this very hill when going to primary/elementary school and used to play on a nearby hill, the hill of Philopappou, the neighbourhood of Ancient Athenians. I was surrounded by history, was the child of this history, and was raised by it. However, I never felt the way I feel now for Acropolis! It took me many years to understand the effect it has on me, and this effect was engraved long before I realise it or knew that it was there. It all began with a photo.... this particular photo...

Below I post another photograph, same day, 20 minutes before the Acropolis Photo, but not as magical as the first one...

If you have never been to Acropolis, I urge you to plan for it. Just have a walk around Acropolis, Thission, Plaka, and taste the Greek Coffee at the beautiful neighbourhood of Koukaki.
